Interim England manager Gareth Southgate is expected to recall Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford to his squad on Sunday.
Southgate has been drafted in to take charge of the national team after Sam Allardyce left the role by mutual consent having been secretly filmed making a string of controversial comments earlier this week.
The Under-21 boss will oversee the first two of his four games in charge against Malta and Slovenia over the coming fortnight, with the squad for those two matches due to be announced on Sunday.
Rashford was not included in Allardyce's one and only squad last month, instead dropping back to the Under-21s, where he scored a hat-trick in the victory over Norway.
The youngster has since regained his place in the Manchester United side, and his exclusion from the Under-21 squad seems to hint towards a recall to the senior side.
The likes of Harry Kane, Adam Lallana, Fabian Delph and Jack Butland will all miss out through injury, while Ross Barkley, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Andros Townsend are pushing for a recall.
