Manchester United board 'happy with Jose Mourinho due to signs of progress'

Manchester United's board are reportedly in full support of manager Jose Mourinho as they are encouraged by the team's performances, despite unwanted results.

Manchester United's hierarchy are reportedly content with manager Jose Mourinho at the helm of Old Trafford due to progress shown on the pitch.

The Red Devils are already 13 points off the pace in the Premier League title race, and they face a battle to finish in the top four as they are nine points adrift at this early stage of the season.

Despite that, The Telegraph reports that Mourinho still has the full backing of the board because the performances are vastly improving, which has left the powers that be feeling "encouraged by what they're seeing".

The newspaper's source claims that there is confidence in results improving due to the way that Mourinho has got the team playing, despite the club recording their worst start to a season for 26 years.

The Red Devils have won just two of their last 11 league games, and have drawn their last three top-flight fixtures.
