England boss Gareth Southgate will reportedly be considered as a replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should Manchester United change their manager during the course of the season.
Solskjaer is still believed to have the backing of the United board, but the Red Devils are currently languishing down in 10th position in the Premier League table.
Mauricio Pochettino has been mentioned as a possible arrival at Old Trafford, with the Argentine available following his departure from Tottenham Hotspur.
However, according to The Sun, the 20-time English champions could turn to Southgate should they lose their next two Premier League matches against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
Southgate led the Three Lions to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup, while the national team are considered among the favourites to triumph at next summer's European Championships.
Solskjaer has won just 24 of his 50 matches in charge of United, suffering 14 defeats in the process.
