Phil Jones praises Swansea, describing them as the "surprise package" of the season.

Manchester United's Phil Jones has praised Swansea for their style of football, claiming they are this season's "surprise package".

The 20-year-old insists that his side will need to "snuff out" Swansea's possession-style football to beat the Welsh side.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side need to win the game at Old Trafford if they are to stay in the title race with Manchester City.

"Swansea have been a surprise package this season," said Jones. "They have played some terrific football and have some great individuals of their own.

"We are aware of the threat they pose. Hopefully we can snuff that out, play our game and get the three points.

"We have to go for it," added the former Blackburn man. "We can't go gung-ho straight from the start. We have to approach the game in the right manner.

"The idea is to make a platform to build on. If we keep a clean sheet, which we are capable of, we will score goals."

Manchester United sit in second place in the Premier League, behind City on goal difference.
