Forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic says that he accepted an offer to return to Manchester United in order to 'finish what he started' last season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed that his main motivation for returning to Manchester United was the Premier League title.

In April, Ibrahimovic sustained a serious knee injury in a Europa League fixture against Anderlecht, and with the Swede out of contract at Old Trafford it appeared that his days at United were over.

However, the two parties came to an agreement over a new contract and Ibrahimovic - who scored 28 goals in 46 appearances last season - has suggested that trying to win the Premier League crown is the only achievement on his mind.

The 36-year-old told Sky Sports News: "I said I have come back to finish what I started.

"Everything I built up in the first season - obviously we won the three trophies - the ending for me was not the ending I wanted, or nobody wanted, especially after how the season went.

"The target is the Premier League. That is my target to finish. Everything I started in the first season, we will finish in the second one."

Manager Jose Mourinho has predicted that Ibrahimovic will make his return to action before the end of 2017.
