Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes that Yaya Toure may feature for Manchester City in Sunday's FA Cup third round tie at the Etihad Stadium.
The midfielder has apparently been told that he must join up with the Ivory Coast squad on in Paris on Saturday to attend a meeting for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
City themselves confirmed the 28-year-old's absence earlier this week.
However, Ferguson is sceptical of the former Barcelona player's omission.
"I am not sure Toure won't be available for Sunday," said the Scot. "He probably will. I don't know the whole background but apparently, he doesn't need to meet up until Monday, I read somewhere, which suggests he should be playing on Sunday."
City's FA Cup triumph last season saw them clinch their first major trophy in 35 years.
