It would be a hollow victory for Manchester United fans if the club were to win the Premier League title this season because of the dull brand of football played by Louis van Gaal, according to former Tottenham Hotspur player Garth Crooks.
United were third in the Premier League table at the start of Saturday's action, just one point off joint league leaders Manchester City and Leicester City ahead of their home clash with West Ham United.
However, Crooks is adamant that if the club were to win the league title for the first time since 2012-13 it would not mean as much to the club's fans as previous victories due to the standard of football on display.
"I have never written Manchester United off, but the only criticism I have is that they are incredibly dull to watch," Crooks told BBC Sport.
"It is quite tragic when you have such exciting players playing with such a lack of adventure, and if they were to win the title, it would really be a hollow victory because there is nothing for their fans to shout about."
United can move clear at the top of the table if they beat West Ham and Leicester fail to win at Swansea.
