Connor Wickham suffers ankle injury

Connor Wickham suffered a serious-looking ankle injury in the opening moments of Sunderland's match against Manchester United.

The striker slipped and rolled over on his ankle during the opening exchanges of the match at Old Trafford.

The 18-year-old looked to be in severe pain and was swiftly stretchered off by a medical team.

Wickham scored his first Premier League goal last weekend as he struck a late equaliser in Sunderland's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa.
