Arsenal on longest unbeaten run against Man United for 38 years

Arsenal extend their unbeaten league streak against Manchester United to six matches with Saturday's draw - their longest such run against the Red Devils for 38 years.

Arsenal set a new Premier League club record after holding Manchester United to a goalless draw at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

In an open and end-to-end game, Edinson Cavani and Alexandre Lacazette both spurned magnificent chances to win the game for their sides as both English giants walked away with a point apiece.

The result means that Arsenal have gone unbeaten in the top flight against Man United since losing 2-1 at Old Trafford in the 2017-18 campaign - a run of six league games without defeat against the Red Devils for the first time in 38 years.

The Gunners last enjoyed such a long unbeaten run against their rivals between October 1980 and May 1983, and Mikel Arteta is yet to see his side lose or ship a goal to Man United since taking over.

On the other hand, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now tried and failed to beat Arsenal five times in the Premier League during his stint as Man United manager - the longest winless streak of any Red Devils boss against the Gunners in the top flight.

Arsenal rose to ninth in the table with that point before Chelsea take on Burnley on Sunday lunchtime.
