Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Aston Villa

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Aston Villa.

Manchester United will be looking to return to winning ways when they welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils came from two goals behind to draw 3-3 with Sheffield United in the league last weekend before losing 2-1 away to Astana in the Europa League on Thursday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have shown improvement in recent weeks, though, and could go as high as fifth in the Premier League table this weekend with a victory, although that scenario would rely on other teams around them dropping points.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash.

Eric Bailly

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Eric Bailly remains unavailable for selection as the central defender looks to recover from his knee operation that took place over the summer. The Ivorian is not expected to make his return until at least January.

Paul Pogba

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: December 4 (vs. Tottenham Hotspur)

Paul Pogba has not played for United since the end of September due to a troublesome ankle injury. The France international, who was strongly linked with a summer exit, will not be involved this weekend but could feasibly take part in the clash with Tottenham Hotspur next week.

Nemanja Matic

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: December 1 (vs. Aston Villa)

Nemanja Matic has not featured for the Red Devils since the start of October after picking up an unspecified problem. The Serbia international could potentially be involved this weekend, though.

Diogo Dalot

Status: Out
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: Unknown

Diogo Dalot, tipped to challenge Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the right-back spot this season, has only made three appearances this season due to a groin problem. It is currently unclear when the 20-year-old will be available to make his return for the 20-time English champions.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Timothy Fosu-Mensah is still recovering from the knee injury that he picked up while on loan at Fulham last season. The defender is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and might not play for United again.

Scott McTominay

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: December 1 (vs. Aston Villa)

Scott McTominay has missed United's last two matches with an ankle injury, but Solskjaer revealed after Thursday's clash with Astana that the Scotland international had a small chance of featuring against Villa.

Marcos Rojo
