Manchester United began their quest to end 10 years without an FA Cup success against Swansea City in the third round this afternoon.

United will have to wait another season though as Swansea upset them with a late goal from Wilfried Bony.

Read how it all unfolded at Old Trafford in our minute-by-minute updates below.

Afternoon folks! It's the last game of a cracking FA Cup weekend at Old Trafford as 11-time winners Manchester United welcome Swansea City.

Team news is just reaching us from Old Trafford...

UNITED XI: Lindegaard; Smalling, Evans, Ferdinand, Buttner; Valencia, Fletcher, Cleverley, Kagawa; Welbeck, Hernandez

SWANSEA XI: Tremmel; Tiendalli, Amat, Chico Flores, Taylor; Britton, De Guzman; Shelvey, Pozuelo, Routledge; Bony

UNITED SUBS: De Gea, Fabio, Anderson, Carrick, Giggs, Zaha, Januzaj

SWANSEA SUBS: Cornell, Davies, Williams, Rangel, Canas, Donnelly, Vazquez

Manchester United manager David Moyes names quite a strong side but clearly rests a couple of players as the likes of Anders Lindegaard and Alexander Buttner come in for David De Gea and Patrice Evra.

Michael Laudrup also names an almost first-choice XI, with captain Ashley Williams the one to get a rest.

UPDATE: After yesterday's bunch of games there's still six today and Chelsea are currently in action at Derby County. They've just gone 2-0 up thanks to Oscar. Liverpool are being held 0-0 at half-time by Oldham while Sunderland are beating Carlisle 3-1. One game has already finished and it was a spanking suffered by West Ham United as they went down 5-0 at Championship side Nottingham Forest.

Even though United are missing their two star strikers in Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez are pretty decent replacements. I'm expecting a free-flowing attacking game.

THE DRAW: Earlier today, the draw for the next round was made and the winner of this match will go on to play either Birmingham City, Bristol Rovers or Crawley Town.

These two sides have never met in the FA Cup. Their last meeting was on the opening day of the Premier League season when Van Persie and Welbeck each scored a brace in David Moyes's first game in charge.

In fact, Swansea haven't beaten United in their five meetings since they were promoted to the Premier League. If there was a time to do it, it could be today with both Rooney and Van Persie out.

REFEREE WATCH! The man in charge today is Mike Dean, who earlier this season sent off Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm in the Welsh derby against Cardiff:

@OptaJoe on Twitter: "5 - Danny Welbeck has scored five goals in his last six appearances for @ManUtd in all competitions. Confidence. #FACup"

PREDICTION TIME! Just 10 minutes until we begin at Old Trafford. I have to say that I fancy Swansea to perhaps nick a replay given United's indifferent home form this season. I reckon a 2-2 draw could happen.

Click here to see the latest scores and scorers from not just the FA Cup but from across Europe. Liverpool are one up on Oldham now thanks to Iago Aspas's goal.

Here come the two sides out of the tunnel. United are in their famous red colours while Swansea don their navy and yellow away strip. Before kickoff there will be a minute's applause for Portuguese legend Eusebio, who today passed away.

KICKOFF! And off we go at the Theatre of Dreams.

Dangerous-looking cross from the right by Tiendalli that is just too high for the beast that is Bony in the middle.

Another good cross from the right, this time by De Guzman, has to be headed out for a corner by Ferdinand.

Routledge looks to pass back to his defence but doesn't see Hernandez who races onto the ball but has his shot from the right blocked well by Tiendalli.

Hernandez has the ball in the net but it won't count as Smalling was offside when he was played in.

CHANCE! Decent opportunity for United but Hernandez miscues his shot in the middle of the area.

GOAL! UNITED 0-1 SWANSEA (ROUTLEDGE)

The visitors go in front as Routledge lobs Lindegaard after a beautifully-weighted through-ball from Pozuelo.

GOAL! UNITED 1-1 SWANSEA (HERNANDEZ)

The hosts weren't behind for long as Hernandez side-foots home from four yards after a great cross from Buttner.

CHANCE! Valencia shoots over with the outside of his boot after a neat lay-off from Welbeck. I expected both sides to go for it and that's certainly been the case so far.

Cleverley is adjudged to have blocked the run of De Guzman and that gives Swansea a free kick about 30 yards out. Pretty central. De Guzman and Shelvey look interested.

Shelvey takes it on but blasts it straight at the United wall.

PHOTO: Here's Routledge celebrating the opening goal. The Swans weren't in front for long though.

Cleverley with another foul on the edge of the box. This one's closer and will probably interest De Guzman more. I reckon the next foul Cleverley makes might earn him a booking.

The Dutchman does take it but curls it straight at Lindegaard.

Patient buildup from United before a quick one-two from Hernandez and Valencia. The former is bundled over on the edge of the box. Free kick to United and left-back Buttner wants it...

The Dutchman fires it low but like De Guzman's effort minutes ago, it's straight at the keeper.

PHOTO: A similar celebration from Hernandez and Kagawa to Routledge and Pozuelo:

BOOKING! Amat is the first name in the book after a bad tackle on Hernandez.

Check out this Vine, it's absolutely brilliant. Earlier in the game, referee Mike Dean was clearly annoyed when Swansea didn't make the most of the advantage he gave them:

CHANCE! Hernandez can't quite do a 'Van Persie' and guide Buttner's deep cross into the corner on the volley, dragging it wide of the post. One minute added on at the end of the first half.

HALF TIME: UNITED 1-1 SWANSEA

They go in level at the break then after two quick goals inside the first 20 minutes. Wayne Routledge put the visitors in front before Javier Hernandez equalised for United.

It's pretty even in terms of the stats at the moment. United are edging both the shot and possession count with six shots to Swansea's four and 54% possession.

I don't expect either manager to make changes at half time but would like to see Moyes bring on the exciting young duo of Adnan Januzaj and Wilfried Zaha.

Here come the two sides back out of the tunnel. As expected, no subs from either Moyes or Laudrup.

KICKOFF! We're back underway at Old Trafford under the lights.

Swansea have the first attack of the second half as Routledge looks to return the ball to Pozuelo but underhits his pass. He gets lucky as the ball drops back for him before his shot is blocked away.

Next to try his luck is Pozuelo but he can't test Lindegaard with a pulled shot wide of the post.

United fans taunt the Swansea ones by singing a song about former player and new Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Swansea's goal was a lovely move:

Smalling wants a penalty as he falls under the challenge of Routledge but Dean rightly says no as there was little contact.

Looks like Januzaj will be the first change that Moyes makes this afternoon.

SHOT! Bony's sharp turn gets him away from Cleverley in the middle before he flashes a 25-yard shot wide.

UNITED SUB: Januzaj comes on for Valencia. United have a free kick on the edge of the area moments later, with Cleverley hitting the wall with his shot.

SWANSEA SUB: Laudrup replies with a change of his own by sending on Jose Canas for Shelvey.

Surely Moyes will be desperate to win today and not have to play a replay as they also have a League Cup semi-final in the coming weeks.

Groans in the Stretford End as Cleverley's cross can only pick out a Swansea defender.

Nasty moment for veteran defender Ferdinand as he clashes knees with Bony and stays down.

UNITED SUB: Ferdinand hobbles down the touchline towards the tunnel, with Fabio on in his place. Smalling with move into centre-back.

Great tackle from Buttner, denying Bony a shot at goal with just Lindegaard in front.

OFF! United substitute Fabio is sent off just moments after coming on for a high tackle on Canas.

Fletcher is now playing at right-back, with Welbeck dropping into midfield.

BOOKINGS! Chico is shown yellow for breaking up United's attack by taking out Hernandez. Moments later Tiendalli also goes into the book for dissent.

SWANSEA SUB: Moments after Bony just missed a header in the middle, Laudrup sends on Alvaro Vasquez for De Guzman.

The rain is now falling at Old Trafford and at the moment it's Swansea who look more like scoring.

GOAL! UNITED 1-2 SWANSEA (BONY)

Delight for Swansea as Bony powerfully heads home Routledge's cross. United's 10-year wait for FA Cup success looks like it is going to continue.

Four minutes have been added on for United to find a leveller.

CHANCE! Swansea almost make it three as Pozuelo feeds Bony but he blazes it over the top from a narrow angle.

Close for Swansea again as Pozuelo curls wide of the post. United are a man and a goal down. Surely no way back.

FULL TIME: UNITED 1-2 SWANSEA

United are knocked out at the first stage of the FA Cup this year. The league looks to be gone as well but they are still in the League Cup and Champions League.

Swansea go through and they will either play Birmingham City, Bristol City or Crawley Town in the fourth round.
