Alexis Sanchez's record vs. Chelsea

Sports Mole looks at Alexis Sanchez's past record for Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester United against the Red Devils' FA Cup final opponents Chelsea.

Alexis Sanchez's career at Manchester United has not quite taken off just yet but, three months after arriving from Arsenal, the Chilean has a great opportunity to win over supporters.

The 29-year-old, used as part of a swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan head the opposite way midway through the 2017-18 campaign, is expected to start Saturday's FA Cup final against Chelsea.

Three goals and five assists in 17 outings is not the worst return for a player settling into his new surroundings, and Sanchez will now be targeting a decisive moment against the Blues to truly kickstart his time at Old Trafford.

Ahead of this weekend's showdown at Wembley Stadium, Sports Mole looks at how the former Barcelona and Arsenal man has fared against Chelsea in the past.

Alexis Sanchez record vs. Chelsea

Sanchez has come up against the West London outfit on 13 previous occasions, in four different competitions, beginning with a 1-0 first-leg loss for Barcelona in the 2011-12 Champions League semi-finals.

That was a sign of things to come as the South American forward failed to net and was on the end of a disappointing result, with Barca unable to overturn the deficit on home soil in the second leg - another match that saw Sanchez fail to make a major impact.

The Tocopilla-born ace struggled to trouble Chelsea in his first six meetings with Arsenal, too, scoring in just one of those matches - a 3-0 win for his side in last season's Premier League.

Sanchez has since gone on to net a crucial FA Cup final strike against Chelsea, however - a good omen for United heading into this weekend, leaving him with a record of two goals across those 13 previous outings.
