Sidney Sam to miss Champions League tie with Manchester United

Sidney Sam will miss Bayer Leverkusen's Champions League tie with Manchester United on Wednesday with a thigh strain.

Bayer Leverkusen forward Sidney Sam will miss Wednesday's Champions League tie at home to Manchester United with a thigh injury.

The German international picked up the muscle strain in yesterday's 1-0 Bundesliga win away at Hertha Berlin.

"His absence is very bad news for us," Leverkusen sports director Rudi Voller told Sky Sports News.

"This is the game of games for us in the Champions League so we have to put everything we have in it even without Sam."

Leverkusen currently sit in second place in Group A, one point behind United.
