Rio Ferdinand does not make Ukraine trip

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has not made the trip to Ukraine for the Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.

Manchester United boss David Moyes has revealed that Rio Ferdinand has not made the trip to Ukraine to face Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.

Anderson, Fabio and Wilfried Zaha were also not a part of the travelling squad that departed from Manchester Airport on Tuesday afternoon.

"Rio has a slight groin problem. It is nothing serious but I was never bringing him anyway," Moyes told reporters at a press conference.

United opened their Champions League campaign with a 4-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen on September 17.
