Bayern Munich board member: 'We won't underestimate Manchester United'

A Bayern Munich board member insists that the club will give Manchester United full respect in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Bayern Munich board member Andreas Jung has admitted that the German side will be going into their quarter-final against Manchester United as the favourites, but they will not be underestimating the English team.

Bayern and United were the last two teams out of the hat on Thursday and will play first at Old Trafford at the start of April, and Jung said that it did not matter who the Bavarians drew as all teams at this stage are hard to beat.

"I suppose we have to accept we are favourites but we will not underestimate United," BBC Sport quotes him as saying. "In two games anything is possible, so we have to focus and carry our form through.

"It's tough at this stage of the competition regardless of who you get. United are not doing well at the moment, but over two legs anything can happen. Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie are magnificent players, don't forget.

"This is always going to be a difficult occasion, United are still there, so let's not underestimate them."

Bayern got past Arsenal in the round of 16, while United knocked out Olympiacos.
