Schalke 04 confirm Leroy Sane in Manchester for 'medical with Manchester City'

Leroy Sane's move to Manchester City appears to be edging closer to completion after his club Schalke 04 confirmed that the attacker has travelled to the North-West of England.

The 20-year-old is widely reported to be undergoing a medical ahead of a deal, rumoured to cost City an initial £31m.

Manager Pep Guardiola confirmed last week that the club have been working on a move for Sane, who scored eight goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances last season.

It now seems that a transfer will be announced in the coming days after Sane's club confirmed that he will not be travelling with the squad for a pre-season trip to Austria.

The tweet read: "Leroy #Sane is currently in Manchester and will not be travelling with #Schalke to the training camp."

The young player has so far earned four caps for Germany.
