Newcastle United linked with Micah Richards

Newcastle United have allegedly made an "informal enquiry" about the possibility of signing Manchester City's Micah Richards.

The England full-back is yet to sign a new deal at the Etihad Stadium, and the Magpies are hoping to coax him away with the promise of first-team football, according to Goal.com.

Richards is said to have grown frustrated at City under former boss Roberto Mancini, but chose to stay and fight for his place following the arrival of Manuel Pellegrini.

However, he is yet to start in a single Premier League fixture this season.
