Alvaro Negredo 'to quit Manchester City for Atletico Madrid'

Alvaro Negredo could return to Spain with Champions League finalists Atletico Madrid, according to reports.

Alvaro Negredo is reportedly looking to leave Manchester City this summer and return to Spain with La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.

Negredo is thought to have struggled to settle in the North West, despite scoring 23 goals in his first season at the Etihad Stadium and, according to The Mirror, the 28-year-old is keen on a return home.

Atleti, who are widely believed to be losing forward Diego Costa to Chelsea during the close season, are said to have earmarked the Spanish international as a perfect replacement.

However, City are rumoured to be holding out for £20m for Negredo, to recoup the outlay they paid to Sevilla last summer.
