Barcelona forward Lionel Messi will break his silence in the next few days after handing in a transfer request, according to a report.

Barcelona captain Lionel Messi is reportedly poised to break his silence on his decision to hand in a transfer request to the Catalan giants.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner is seeking a move away from the club where he has contributed 634 goals from 731 appearances since arriving in Catalonia 20 years ago.

Messi has not yet commented publicly on the ongoing saga, but according to Sport, the Barca talisman will break his silence in the next few days.

Manchester City have been the club most strongly linked with a sensational swoop for the Argentine superstar, whom Barcelona will supposedly consider offers in the region of £200m for.

A move to the Etihad would see Messi reunite with former Barca manager Pep Guardiola, but Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain allegedly believe that they are just as capable of pulling a deal off.

Amid reports of unrest behind the scenes at Camp Nou in recent months, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu is reportedly prepared to resign if Messi performs a U-turn and decides to stay with the La Liga giants.
