Manchester City will reportedly turn down any offers from clubs to sign teenage midfielder Phil Foden on loan in January.

Manchester City have reportedly decided against allowing Phil Foden to leave on loan in January.

The 17-year-old was named Player of the Tournament as England Under-17s lifted the World Cup in India last month.

Foden, deemed one of the City academy's brightest prospects, was handed his debut in last month's 1-0 win over Feyenoord in the Champions League.

Celtic are believed to be interested in taking the midfielder on loan but, according to The Mirror, Pep Guardiola wants to keep him at the Etihad Stadium for the rest of the season.

The report claims that the Spaniard is hoping to make use of the youngster as domestic and European fixtures begin to pile up in the New Year, with the club fighting on four fronts.

In addition, Guardiola reportedly believes that Foden's development will be best served by remaining with his parent club, where he can learn from the likes of David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne.

Celtic have struck up a working relationship with Man City over the years, having had the likes of John Guidetti, Jason Denayer and Patrick Roberts on loan.
