Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan reveals that he is yet to begin discussions with the club over a new contract, with his current deal due to expire in 2023.

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has revealed that he is yet to open contract talks with the club but can see himself signing a new deal at the Etihad.

The 31-year-old has struggled to earn regular starts in Pep Guardiola's XI this season but still has seven goals and six assists to boast from 32 matches in all tournaments.

Gundogan's deal with the Premier League champions is due to expire in the summer of 2023, but the ex-Borussia Dortmund man is feeling relaxed about the situation.

"I'm very happy at Manchester City, football-wise there isn't a more attractive place at the moment. I can imagine staying there beyond 2023," Gundogan told Kicker. "There are no concrete talks, but we have a good relationship. I'm still patient. There's no hurry."

Barcelona have been credited with an interest in Gundogan amid his uncertain contract situation, but the midfielder is supposedly prepared to snub interest from the Catalan giants.

Gundogan has won three Premier League titles, four EFL Cups and the FA Cup since arriving at City in 2016, registering 46 goals and 33 assists in 243 games for Guardiola's side.
