Pep Guardiola: 'Samir Nasri can stay at Manchester City'

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says that Samir Nasri "can stay" at the club this summer.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said that Samir Nasri "can stay" at the club this summer.

Nasri had been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium having returned from the summer break "overweight", with the likes of AC Milan, Inter Milan and Roma reportedly interested in the Frenchman.

However, the midfielder made his first appearance of the season as a 75th-minute sub against West Ham United this afternoon, and after the match Guardiola appeared to open the door for Nasri to stay.

"Nasri can stay. Samir arrived overweight but after seven days, 10 days, it was fantastic how he trained. His quality is another level. It depends on him. If he wants to help us and stay to be part of something, it depends on him," he told reporters.

City beat West Ham 3-1 to maintain their perfect start to life under Guardiola.
