Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Aston Villa - Ake, Ederson

Man City injury, suspension list vs. Villa - Ake, Ederson

Squaring up to the last team to put them to the sword, Manchester City welcome Aston Villa to the Etihad Stadium for Wednesday's Premier League encounter.

The Citizens huffed and puffed but could not penetrate a sturdy Arsenal backline on Easter Sunday, settling for a 0-0 draw against one of their two title rivals.

As a result, Pep Guardiola's third-placed troops remain one point adrift of the Gunners and three worse off than Liverpool, who now have the destiny of the Premier League crown in their own hands.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest with Aston Villa, who eased past Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 over the weekend.

Nathan Ake

Status: Out Type of injury: Unspecified Possible return date: Unknown

Just 27 minutes into Sunday's showdown with Arsenal, Nathan Ake was forced to leave the field due to an unspecified injury and was replaced by Rico Lewis. Guardiola did not have much information to share immediately after the game, only confirming that the Dutchman would definitely sit out the visit of Villa.

Kyle Walker

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: April 9 (vs. Real Madrid)

While John Stones was surprisingly named on the bench after being ruled out of the Arsenal clash, Kyle Walker - who hurt his hamstring on England duty - was unavailable, and the Englishman is not expected to be fit for the midweek affair either.

Ederson

Status: Out Type of injury: Thigh Possible return date: April 9 (vs. Real Madrid)

Guardiola revealed before the Arsenal game that Ederson was on the cusp of returning from his thigh problem, although he subsequently changed his tune and claimed that the Brazilian - who sat out that draw - was "not even close" to being considered for selection, so a comeback on Wednesday is off the cards.

MANCHESTER CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Manchester City have no suspended players for this match.
