Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling: 'I must still prove myself for England'

Sterling: 'I have point to prove for England'

Raheem Sterling has said that he remains unsatisfied with his form on the international stage with England.

With Manchester City, Sterling is currently enjoying the best season of his career, with 19 goals and seven assists coming from 32 appearances in the Premier League and Champions League.

However, Sterling remains on just two goals from 36 outings for England, and he has admitted that he must work harder to make an impression with the Three Lions.

At a press conference, the 23-year-old told reporters: "It hasn't benefited England at all yet because I haven't really got to the level I want to get to.

"With the manager I've got at City, he's been a massive help for me, and it's the same when I come away with England as well - Gareth [Southgate]'s always trying to help the strikers, doing finishing drills to get us better every time we come here."

Sterling will hope to feature when England host Italy at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday night.
