Samir Nasri: 'I fit Pep Guardiola's philosophy'

Samir Nasri believes that he possesses the skillset to thrive under Pep Guardiola's management at Manchester City.

Samir Nasri has insisted that he is the type of player that could thrive under Pep Guardiola.

The Frenchman's season at Manchester City has been blighted by injury, but he marked his recent return to fitness by scoring the winning goal in yesterday's 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion.

Reports had claimed that Guardiola would deem the playmaker surplus to requirements when he arrives at the Etihad Stadium in the summer, but Nasri is hoping that he will be given the chance to prove his worth.

"When the pre-season is going to start I am going to be fresh so I hope that will help me and I will try to perform because when you have been out for so long you are more hungry when you come back," he told reporters.

"You don't want to waste your time. You want to be back with a bang. If I stay working with Pep Guardiola, if he wants me, he's just going to be a lucky man because I will be really hungry.

"I am the type of player for his philosophy and the way he likes his team to play so we are just going to see and on the first day of pre-season I will have a chat with him because I am going to be really hungry."

Former Arsenal player Nasri is contracted to the Citizens until June 2019.
