Manchester City arrange extra friendly match

Manchester City arrange an extra pre-season friendly game following the cancellation of their match with Manchester United in China.

Manchester City have scheduled an additional pre-season friendly match after their clash with Manchester United in China was called off.

The two sides had been due to go up against each other at the Bird's Nest Stadium in Beijing on Monday, but the game was cancelled just hours before kickoff after torrential weather left the pitch unplayable.

According to the Manchester Evening News, City boss Pep Guardiola is concerned that his side will not have enough match practice before the new season gets underway and has moved quickly to arrange a further friendly fixture.

The opposition has now been confirmed as Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone, with the game taking place behind closed doors at the City Football Academy next Wednesday.

The Citizens will play one other pre-season friendly, a game against rivals Arsenal in Sweden on August 7.
