Aymeric Laporte has said that he is "very happy" to have completed his £57m move from Athletic Bilbao to 'ambitious' Manchester City.
The French centre-back becomes the Citizens' club-record signing, arriving at the Etihad Stadium on a long-term deal until the summer of 2023.
Laporte is eligible to make his debut as early as Wednesday evening when City take on West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League - one of four trophies they remain in contention to win this term.
Speaking to his new side's official website, the 23-year-old admitted that he cannot wait to play a part in what is shaping up to be a famous year for the club.
"I am very happy to be here," he said. "City are a club with a lot of ambition and they are one of the best teams in Europe.
"I am looking forward to working under Pep Guardiola and trying to help the club to achieve success. It means a lot that the club have shown faith in me and I am excited to get started."
Laporte, handed the number 14 shirt, clocked up 222 appearances for Athletic during his six years in the senior ranks.
