Vincent Kompany to return against Southampton?

A report claims that Vincent Kompany could shake off a calf injury to feature for Manchester City at Southampton this weekend.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany could reportedly return to the starting lineup for Saturday evening's trip to Southampton.

The 26-year-old was expected to spend the next couple of weeks on the sidelines with a calf injury that had already kept him out of City's last two matches.

However, the Belgian international has returned to light training today and will be assessed by the club's medical staff this afternoon, according to Goal.com.

Should he be given the all-clear to resume full training, the report went on to claim that Kompany has an "outside chance" of featuring against the Saints.
