Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says that he intends to outline his reasons behind wearing a yellow ribbon in a letter to the Football Association.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that he intends to write to the Football Association to explain his decision as to why he will continue wearing a yellow ribbon.

The 47-year-old has been charged by the governing body for breaching its kit and advertising regulations, despite UEFA turning a blind eye.

Guardiola was clearly unperturbed by the threat of a punishment as he wore the ribbon, which is used to support politicians imprisoned in Catalonia in recent months, during and after Sunday's EFL Cup final win against Arsenal.

Asked at his press conference on Wednesday afternoon whether he has been in touch with the FA, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss said: "No contact. I am going to write a letter and explain my position, but as I said I am available to [meet with] the FA, absolutely. There is no problem."

Guardiola, who has until March 5 to formally respond to the FA's charge, takes his side to Arsenal in the Premier League on Thursday night.
