Mario Balotelli to undergo surgery after he is unable to tolerate contact lenses

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has revealed that striker Mario Balotelli is to undergo eye surgery.

Balotelli is no longer able to tolerate contact lenses and Mancini has revealed that the Italian forward will undergo surgery on Tuesday.

Mancini told reporters: "Mario is not ready to return to the pitch yet. He no longer seems to tolerate contact lenses. He's feeling alright now, but the problem can return any time."

Balotelli joins fellow striker Sergio Aguero on the sidelines as Manchester City face Queens Park Rangers this evening.
