Half-Time Report: Wilfried Bony edges Manchester City ahead

Manchester City lead Hull City 1-0 in their League Cup quarter-final thanks to Wilfried Bony's early goal.

Wilfried Bony's early strike has given Manchester City a 1-0 lead over Hull City at half time in their League Cup quarter-final at the Etihad Stadium this evening.

The hosts appealed for a free kick in the fifth minute when Eldin Jakupovic appeared to handle the ball outside his area, but the goalkeeper was not penalised.

However, they only had to wait until the 12th minute to take the lead as Bony reacted fastest to sweep home from close range after Kevin De Bruyne's shot cannoned back off the post.

Hull gave a reminder of their threat as Isaac Hayden drove a shot at Willy Caballero, while Fabian Delph fired narrowly wide after being released by David Silva.

Bony then pounced on a poor pass by Jake Livermore before advancing towards goal, but the Ivorian sent a weak effort into the hands of Jakupovic from outside the area.

Hull's best opportunity fell to Chuba Akpom in the 44th minute, but the Arsenal loannee scuffed his effort, leaving Caballero to make a comfortable save.
