Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany out for "three or four weeks"

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini reveals that Vincent Kompany is likely to be sidelined for "three or four weeks" after picking up a calf strain on Boxing Day.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that captain Vincent Kompany is likely to be out of action for around a month with a calf injury.

The Belgium international has been plagued with injuries of late, the latest of which was suffered just nine minutes into his stint during City's 4-1 win over Sunderland on Boxing Day.

After Monday night's goalless draw against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, Pellegrini told reporters: "It will maybe be three or four weeks.

"It is the same calf but a different part. For it to be less than three or four weeks would be very difficult."

City will head into the New Year third in the Premier League table, three points adrift of leaders Arsenal.
