Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Chelsea

Man City injury, suspension list vs. Chelsea

Reigning champions Manchester City will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host Chelsea on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola's side were beaten 3-1 by league leaders Liverpool last time out and slipped down into fourth in the Premier League table as a result.

However, victory over third-placed Chelsea would see City leapfrog their opponents and prevent the Reds from widening the gap at the top of the league.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's contest.

Ederson

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Muscle Possible return date: November 23 (vs. Chelsea)

Ederson was forced to miss the defeat to Liverpool but has been back in training over the international break and is very likely to return to the starting lineup against Chelsea.

Leroy Sane

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: January 18 (vs. Crystal Palace)

Guardiola has insisted that Sane will return before the end of the season, placing a comeback for the German winger at some point between December and February.

Aymeric Laporte

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

City's defence has suffered greatly in the absence of Laporte but no timescale has yet been given for the centre-back's return after he suffered a serious knee injury.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: December 7 (vs. Manchester United)

City are well-stocked at left-back and will hope that the options they have will step up in Zinchenko's absence, with the Manchester derby earmarked for his return.

MAN CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Bernardo Silva

Return date: November 26 (vs. Shakhtar Donetsk)

The midfielder has been handed a one-match ban as a result of a social media post involving teammate Benjamin Mendy, meaning that he is unavailable to face Chelsea.
