Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester City could line up for Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg with Atletico Madrid.

Manchester City must cope without the suspended Gabriel Jesus for Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg with Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano.

The Brazilian attacker picked up his third booking of the tournament in last week's 1-0 first-leg win and may have featured from the off against Liverpool with that in mind.

Wednesday's game may come too soon for Ruben Dias to return from his hamstring injury, and teenage attacker Cole Palmer is still nursing his troublesome foot problem and is unlikely to make the squad.

Kyle Walker is back from a Champions League ban of his own, and with Nathan Ake performing admirably in the first leg, Pep Guardiola could take this opportunity to rest Joao Cancelo ahead of the FA Cup semi-final with Liverpool.

John Stones and Aymeric Laporte should continue at centre-back in Dias's expected absence, as Rodri continues as the midfield enforcer, with Fernandinho an option for change from the bench as ever.

Ilkay Gundogan's fresh legs could also come in handy in the engine room, while Kevin De Bruyne's likely inclusion could lead to Bernardo Silva also enjoying a brief rest.

Jesus's absence opens up a spot for Riyad Mahrez to return on the right flank as Raheem Sterling fends off Jack Grealish for the left-wing spot, and Phil Foden will expect to spearhead the charge after his introduction acted as the catalyst for City's first-leg win.

Man City possible starting lineup: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Laporte, Ake; Gundogan, Rodri, De Bruyne; Mahrez, Foden, Sterling
