Good evening! Thank you very much for joining Sports Mole for tonight's Champions League Group C clash between Celtic and Manchester City in Glasgow! These two sides both had vastly different experiences on matchday one of the group stages, but tonight is expected to be a different affair as Celtic welcome the Champions League proper back to Celtic Park for the first time since 2013. They once again face stiff opposition, though, so it promises to be an interesting game! Let's start with a look at the team news...

Changes for both teams from the weekend, then, but interestingly for Celtic they stick with the same attacking personnel that thrashed Kilmarnock 6-1 at the weekend. While it is not particularly surprising - they did score six, after all - there was a question mark over who would start up front for the hosts this evening. Leigh Griffiths is back available after a month on the sidelines and was undoubtedly the main man for Celtic last season, but Dembele has made a flying start to life at the club too, with a brace at the weekend taking his tally for the season to 10. Griffiths also scored against Kilmarnock, but has to settle for a place on the bench once again tonight.

Whether to start Griffiths, Dembele or both is likely to be a question Rodgers needs to answer a few times this season, but it is certainly a nice problem for the Celtic boss to have. That should of firepower should be enough to cause most Champions League teams problems, although they will need an improvement all over the field from their last outing in the competition. The Hoops can also rely on goals from midfield, though, and in particular former City man Scott Sinclair, whose goal at the weekend kept up his record of scoring in every Scottish Premiership appearance so far - now six in a row.

Forrest and Rogic were also on the scoresheet during the weekend rout of Kilmarnock, so there are certainly plenty of goals on the field for Celtic this evening as they once again start alongside Sinclair to provide support for Dembele. The midfield holding pair also remains unchanged, with Nir Bitton and Scott Brown chosen to patrol the middle of the park. They should add plenty of bite in that area of the field, although City have the skill and ability to overcome that.

Brendan Rodgers has made just one outfield change for tonight's match, bringing in the experienced Kolo Toure to face his former club and demoting Simunovic to the bench. Toure makes it a trio of former Man City players in the Celtic matchday squad, joining Sinclair and Patrick Roberts, who is currently on loan from the Etihad and makes the bench today. There is also a change in goal for Celtic this evening as Craig Gordon replaces De Vries, who was taken off during the win over Kilmarnock but is deemed fit enough for the bench.

The man Gordon will be most wary of tonight is Sergio Aguero, and for good reason too. The Argentine has scored hat-tricks in both of his Champions League outings this season - against Steaua Bucuresti in a qualifier and Borussia Monchengladbach on matchday one - and returned from a three-game ban with two goals against Swansea at the weekend. In all, Aguero has scored a phenomenal 11 goals in just six outings in all competitions so far this season.

City's weekend win over Swansea was soured somewhat by an injury to Kevin De Bruyne, and with the Belgian now expected to miss around three weeks with the hamstring problem Guardiola has brought Nolito back into the side in his place. The Spaniard is currently serving a three-match domestic ban, but is eligible for this competition and starts alongside compatriot David Silva, who captains the side tonight, and the in-form Raheem Sterling, who already has four league goals for the season - just two fewer than he managed in the entire 2015-16 campaign.

There is no change in the rest of the midfield either, with Yaya Toure still out in the cold and ineligible for the Champions League having been left out of the squad. Gundogan has quickly established himself in the first team after returning to fitness and starts again this evening alongside Fernandinho in the middle of the park. Having said that, expect to see the two full-backs in that area of the field when City have the ball, a tactic that Guardiola regularly uses.

That brings me nicely on to the two other changes in the Man City side tonight, with full-back's Zabaleta and Clichy being recalled to the side. They replace Sagna and Stones in the City defence, which also sees Kolarov move into centre-back and Clichy fill in on the left. Captain Vincent Kompany remains sidelined through injury, and behind the defence Claudio Bravo continues in goal.

It is a formidable City side that will take to the field tonight, then, but they will also be met with a formidable atmosphere inside Celtic Park. The Scottish champions have not been amongst Europe's elite for a long time now, but they have a strong reputation at home in this competition thanks largely to the noise that their fans can make. Rodgers has admitted that if both teams are at their best then City will win tonight, but he will be hoping that the crowd help to knock the visitors off their stride.

At the very least, Rodgers will be expecting a vast improvement from their last appearance in this competition. It was as tough a return to the Champions League proper as you can imagine, facing Barcelona at the Camp Nou, but even so they would have been disappointed by falling to a chastening 7-0 defeat at the hands of the Spanish champions. The MSN partnership tore Celtic apart, with Messi grabbing a hat-trick, Suarez scoring twice and Neymar once, while Iniesta also got on the scoresheet. On top of that, Neymar picked up four assists, while Suarez and Messi also set up one goal apiece.

Celtic are not the first and certainly won't be the last team to fail to keep that trio quiet, but even so they will be looking for a response to their heaviest ever European defeat. Whether it was their worst ever defeat in Europe is a different question, though, and one match from their qualifying campaign certainly deserves a mention in that category, with Celtic beginning their European journey this season by losing 1-0 to Gibraltan minnows Lincoln Red Imps.

That match came all the way back in July 12, when Celtic began their 2016-17 Champions League campaign, and it is fair to say that there have been a few ups and downs on the way already. They bounced back against Lincoln Red Imps with a 3-0 win in the second leg before scraping aggregate victories over Astana and Hapoel Beer Sheva - the latter of which required them to hang on in the second leg as the Israeli outfit threatened to overturn a three-goal deficit. Ultimately, though, they made it to the group stages, which is certainly more than what could be said in the past couple of seasons.

Rodgers was keen to talk up the impact the home atmosphere could have on this match, and mentioned the stat that Celtic have lost just three of their last 24 home Champions League group games in the process. What he neglected to mention, however, was the fact that those three defeats have come in their last four home group games, while in the Europa League last season they picked up just one point from a possible nine in front of their own fans. There is some damage to be repaired if Celtic Park is to maintain it's status as a European fortress.

There is no doubt that it has been a fortress so far this season, though, with Celtic having won all eight of their home outings under Brendan Rodgers heading in to tonight's game. Not only have they been picking up results here, but they have been scoring freely too, with 32 goals at an average of four per game in that time. Indeed, you have to go back to last year for Celtic's last home defeat in any competition, winning 17 and drawing two of their 19 matches at Celtic Park so far in 2016.

Domestically, Celtic already look on course for another season on dominance having raced four points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership, scoring 23 goals in just six league matches - more than double the next highest scorers. They have scored four or more goals in five of their eight domestic games in the 2016-17 campaign - including against Rangers in a 5-1 Old Firm drubbing, although at the other end of the field they have kept just three clean sheets in all competitions this season. Aguero will be licking his lips...

Despite those impressive home and domestic statistics, there is no doubt that Man City go into this game as favourites. They are a few steps up from anything Celtic will encounter domestically, and even Man City fans will have been surprised with just how well they have started the current season. The big question ahead of the campaign was how Guardiola would cope with the new test of English football, but the Spaniard has provided all of the answers in emphatic fashion so far.

Indeed, Man City's winning record is yet to be blemished since Guardiola took over at the club, with 10 wins from his opening 10 games in charge in all competitions. City are expected to continue improving as the players get more and more used to the manager's philosophy too, so it would take a brave person to bet against them winning the Premier League title and perhaps one or two other trophies this season too. Guardiola already has two Champions League crowns to his name - could he steer City to another this season?

All of that is far away, but they have certainly started the season in blistering style. The club's last defeat came in the Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid in May, and their perfect record so far this term has seen them storm to the top of the Premier League table with 18 points from six games. That already puts them four points clear of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who are the only other team yet to taste defeat in the top flight this term. It is, unsurprisingly, their best start to a Premier League season, and there aren't many signs of it slowing down.

They are scoring for fun too at the moment, with 18 goals from their six Premier League outings and the same average of three per game in all competitions - 30 goals from 10 matches. There have been some criticisms of City's defensive record in the early days of Guardiola's tenure, but in the Premier League they have still only conceded five goals - a record on Tottenham and Everton can better at this stage of the season.

City have struggled for clean sheets away from home, conceding one goal in each of their last four outings on the road, but they have had little trouble in outscoring opponents during that time. Five of their 10 wins under Guardiola have come on their travels, which is a significant improvement on last season, when they failed to win any of their final four away games under Manuel Pellegrini, drawing two and losing two.

City's first away game under Guardiola saw them take on Steaua Bucuresti in playoff to reach the group stages, but they made short work of the Romanian outfit and effectively secured their position in the competition proper by the halfway stage of the tie. They won 5-0 away from home, before completing the job with a 1-0 victory in the return leg. Coupled with their 4-0 victory over Monchengladbach on matchday one, they have now scored 10 goals without reply in this season's competition.

City have now won seven of their last nine Champions League group games, scoring 20 times in the process as they continue to cement themselves as one of the continent's top teams. They broke new ground by reaching the semi-finals last season, but if they can improve in one area then it would be away from home in this competition. Not including qualifiers, City have won just one of their last four away Champions League outings, although in the group stages alone that changes to just one defeat in five.

PREDICTION: Right, we're 10 minutes away from kickoff here in Glasgow, which means that it is time for a prediction! I don't expect a repeat of the Barcelona rout for Celtic this evening, and they should make much more of a game of it here, but City have started the season so well that it is hard to look past them for the win. Celtic have been free-scoring so far and should nick a goal, but I'm back the visitors to come away with a 3-1 victory.

This is the first ever competitive meeting between these two sides, and also Man City's first official match against any Scottish opposition. They did, however, face St Johnstone in a behind-closed-doors friendly at the start of August, winning that one 3-0.

There have been two previous pre-season clashes between Celtic and Man City, the most recent of which came in August 2009 when City ran out 2-1 winners in Manchester. Gareth Barry and Carlos Tevez were on the scoresheet in that one, scoring either side of a Killen strike. These two also met in July 2008, when Martin Petrov's goal was cancelled out by McGowan in a 1-1 draw in Glasgow.

Celtic will feel like they have played Barcelona an awful lot recently, but despite his strong ties with the club, this will be Pep Guardiola's first ever meeting with Celtic in any competition. In the other dugout, Rodgers is a little more familiar with tonight's opponents from his time in the Premier League. His first top-flight match as manager saw his Swansea side beaten 4-0 by Man City, before gaining revenge with a 1-0 victory in the reverse, while his time with Liverpool saw him win two, draw two and lose two against the Citizens. In the Champions League, though, Rodgers has won just one of his seven matches.

There has been plenty of talk about the Celtic Park atmosphere, and the fans are in fine voice as 'You'll Never Walk Alone' rings around the stadium before the players come out onto the field. Celtic have won four, drawn three and lost two of their previous home matches against English clubs in Europe. They have not picked up a victory in almost a decade, though, when Nakamura's free kick was enough to hand them a 1-0 win over Manchester United.

KICKOFF: Here we go then! The noise is deafening inside the stadium as Celtic get us underway!

What a start for Celtic! Dembele has his 11th goal of the season, but he didn't know anything about it! Celtic earn an early free kick which is floated to Forrest at the back post after a couple of fake runs. He turns it back into the middle and Sviatchenko goes for goal with a header with bounces off the chest of Dembele and past a helpless Bravo! Big question of offside against the young striker, but he doesn't stop to ask questions!

That was a very, very close offside call on Dembele there, but for me it was marginally off. City can feel a little hard done by there.

SAVE! Almost a second for Celtic, and again it stems from a set piece! This time the free kick is knocked down to Toure, who collects it before firing a powerful effort towards goal that Bravo has to be very sharp to turn away.

Celtic have City rocking right now. They win another free kick in a good position, but Sinclair's effort hits the wall before Rogic's rebound is deflected behind for a corner.

What are you made of then, City? This is the first time they have been behind under Pep Guardiola, and right now they are just hanging on to the one-goal deficit. It has been all Celtic in this opening 10 minutes, with the hosts' intensity stunning City so far.

Important piece of defending for Sviatchenko as City have their best attacking moment of the match so far. Aguero pokes it through towards Silva, but the Celtic defender gets there to poke it behind for a corner.

Man City have upped their pressure in the last couple of minutes, and already they have their reward. Fernandinho levels things up, collecting Kolarov's mis-hit shot inside the area before tucking his finish into the bottom corner. We have a real game on our hands here!

...and now Celtic have a free kick in a very good position just outside the City box. Breathless start to this game!

CLOSE! Rogic goes for goal and tries to tuck it into the bottom corner on the goalkeeper's side, but the ball skims narrowly wide of the target.

He may be a deep-lying midfielder, but he is playing his part at the sharp end for City!

SAVE! Some work for Gordon to do here as Nolito cuts inside and goes for goal from 25 yards, but it is easy for the Celtic keeper to gather.

Celtic regain the lead! This incredible first half takes another turn as Tierney puts the hosts back in front via a huge deflection off Sterling. It was a fine move from the home side which ended with Rogic threading a pass through for Tierney, whose shot came off the foot of Sterling and flew past Bravo! Celtic Park goes wild again!

This has been a breathless and pulsating match so far, and I doubt we have seen the last of the goals just yet. One thing is for sure - Celtic are responding well to that Barcelona thumping!

Otamendi looks to get his side back into the match with a speculative long-range strike, but it is simple for Gordon to gather once again. The likes of Sterling and Aguero haven't really got into this game for the visitors yet.

Gundogan rattles the woodwork with a thunderous volley, but it would not have counted anyway as the referee blew up for a handball against Aguero.

City's pressure is beginning to grow again, and Sterling sends a peach of a cross into the middle that needs to be turned behind at the back post. City take the resulting corner quickly and the ball finds Aguero at the back post, but his header goes right across the face of goal without a touch.

Celtic's second goal has now been credited as a Sterling own goal, but he has made up for it here by levelling the scores once again! It is a brilliantly composed finish by the winger, who latched on to Silva's through-ball before beating a defender with a fine turn and sliding the ball past the keeper. Dembele lost possession in the build-up to that, but Sterling still had plenty to do.

You'll go some way to see a better 30 minutes of Champions League football this season than we have just witnessed. It's been a magnificent game so far, and it shows no signs of slowing down.

CHANCE! City almost take the lead for the first time this evening, and it is another strange one. Sterling's mis-hit volley was turned towards goal by a good reaction header from Otamendi, but the ball skimmed narrowly wide when everyone else was rooted to the spot.

Fernandinho is not Man City's only in-form player in this competition...

Half a chance for Celtic from another set piece as a corner is hung up to the back post. Lustig is there to win the header, but his effort loops up onto the roof of the net.

UPDATE: Are we on course for an upset in the other game in the group? Borussia Monchengladbach have taken the lead against Barcelona in Germany through Thorgan Hazard.

Celtic have pressed Man City really well high up the field so far this evening, giving the defence and in particular Claudio Bravo no time on the ball whatsoever. Rodgers will be delighted with what he has seen for the most part.

Kolarov hasn't been shy of a shot so far tonight, but this may well be the last one as he blazes an effort high and wide of the target.

There has been a relative lull in proceedings over the past few minutes, but you can't blame the two sides following such a hectic match so far. City are now just passing the ball around, and I think both sets of players will be welcoming this new, slower tempo.

SHOT! A long period of Man City possession sees Sterling eventually tee Gundogan up on the edge of the box, but his shot lacks power and goes wide.

Four goals, but no stoppage time as the referee brings a breathless opening 45 minutes to an end. It has been a quite brilliant game so far, and we're still no closer to finding a winner as the two sides go into the break all square at 2-2. More of the same in the second half, please!

The opening goal came after less than three minutes as Celtic made a perfect start to their first Champions League home group game since 2013. Moussa Dembele got his 11th goal of the season, although there were questions over offside as Sviatchenko's header bounced off the striker's chest and in. It stemmed from a good free kick routine that caught City out, although the replays suggest that it should not have counted.

Celtic were very much on top in the opening 10 minutes, but City levelled things up against the run of play courtesy of a Fernandinho strike. The midfielder collected Kolarov's mis-hit effort inside the area before tucking his finish into the bottom corner to silence Celtic Park.

It didn't take long for the crowd to restore the noise inside the stadium, though, and Celtic were back ahead after 20 minutes courtesy of a Sterling on goal. The winger turned Tierney's low cross/shot past Bravo, but atoned for that to equalise once again for City with a brilliantly composed finish. Silva threaded the ball through for the England international, whose turn took a defender and the keeper out of the game before he slid his finish home.

There have been other chances aside from the goals too, with Bravo being forced into a smart save to deny Toure while Gordon has also been called upon to keep out Nolito. Gundogan, Otamendi and Aguero have also come close for the visitors, while Rogic sent a free kick narrowly wide of the target for Celtic. We are all set up for another thrilling 45 minutes of football!

KICKOFF: Man City get us back underway at Celtic Park for a second half that will hopefully live up to the first.

Incredible! Less than two minutes into the second half and Dembele has done it again! He puts Celtic in front for the third time tonight with a brilliant finish, although the assist has to go to Kolarov. The City defender made a huge mess of trying to clear a cross from the left flank, allowing Dembele to control it with his back to goal and fire a superb overhead kick past a wrongfooted Bravo.

That is Dembele's 12th goal of the season, and he is creating quite a highlight reel already. A hat-trick in the Old Firm, on a hat-trick tonight - what a signing he has been for the Scottish champions.

SAVE! City look for yet another response as Nolito collects the ball at the back post, creates space to shoot but then drags a tame effort into the arms of Gordon.

Another half-chance for Nolito as Gordon comes to claim a Sterling cross but gets nowhere near it. It finds Nolito at the back post, but Lustig is out to make an important block.

Silva is bundled over from Bitton and City have a free kick in a very dangerous position here...

SAVE! Gundogan goes low towards the goalkeeper's side, looking to use the greasy surface to his advantage, but Gordon turns it away with a strong hand.

This has been a real examination of City tonight - their biggest of the Guardiola era so far. What have they got in response?

City grab a third equaliser, and this time it is Nolito who continues the topsy-turvy nature of this match. It is a superb move to lead up to the goal as Silva and Sterling combine to find Aguero, only for the Argentine to be thwarted by a big save from Gordon. The rebound bounces straight to Nolito, though, and the Spaniard strokes it home into the empty net.

CELTIC SUB: The first change of the night comes from the home side as Stuart Armstrong replaces Rogic.

It isn't quite as frantic as the first half, but both sides are still looking dangerous. It has been such an attack-minded game, which really is a joy to see. Celtic could have shut up shop after their loss to Barcelona on matchday one, but instead they have come out firing.

With half an hour remaining in this game, I'd still make Man City favourites simply because of the quality they have out there on the field. Celtic are playing so well, though, and will be devastated if they come away from this one empty-handed having led on three separate occasions.

CHANCE! Very important defending from Sviatchenko as he gets a vital touch on Aguero's header. He didn't know much about it in fairness as Aguero rose to nod Silva's cross towards the bottom corner, but the Celtic defender was in the right place to deflect it behind for a corner.

City are starting to gain an element of control over this game now, which will begin to worry the Celtic fans. The visitors are seeing more of the ball and have controlled the midfield area since Rogic made way.

UPDATE: There has been a second goal in the other Group C match between Borussia Monchengladbach and Barcelona, and it has gone the way of the visitors. Arda Turan has made it 1-1 in Germany.

City are camped in the Celtic half right now, taking control of possession and wearing the Celtic defence down with pass after pass. Can the hosts hold on in the final 20 minutes or so?

The Celtic fans are still in fine voice here, trying to roar their side on to at least a point here. The players are understandably tiring, but the fans are doing all they can to give them the boost they need to see this one out.

The hosts make an increasingly rare burst forward here as Brown charges up the middle, but his touch lets him down and ball gets away from him.

MAN CITY SUB: The visitors make their first change of the evening as John Stones replaces Clichy, which will see Kolarov move to left-back.

MAN CITY SUB: Another change from the visitors here, and it is an interesting one as Fernando replaces Nolito in what appears to be a defensive sub.

It is City who are doing the vast majority of the attacking now. The game has changed a lot since the open, flowing affair we have seen for the most part. Now, Celtic are focused on getting something from the game and City are pushing for the win.

UPDATE: Barcelona have turned things around in Germany, with Gerard Pique making it 2-1 against Borussia Monchengladbach.

CELTIC SUB: Another change from the hosts here as Patrick Roberts - who is on loan from City - replaces Forrest. What a story it would be if he gets the winner against his parent club.

CLOSE! Fernandino almost wins it in spectacular fashion! He collects the ball just outside the area and thumps a piledriver of an effort towards the top corner, but it flies narrowly over.

CELTIC SUB: The hosts make their third and final change, and it is an attacking one from Rodgers as he brings Leigh Griffiths on for Bitton.

It is backs to the wall stuff for Celtic now! They are desperately hanging on here and, despite the introduction of Griffiths, don't seem to be giving much thought to winning the game now.

Big block from Brown as he races out to meet Sterling after a loose ball fell to the winger on the edge of the area. Just two more minutes plus stoppage time for the hosts to hold on now!

There will be three minutes of added time at the end of this match!

SAVE! Huge save from Gordon to deny Gundogan late on! It is good play from Sterling yet again as he dances inside and pokes the ball to the City midfielder, but his shot takes a deflection off Sviatchenko and draws a brilliant reaction stop from the Celtic keeper!

Wow, what a magnificent match that was and what a superb result for Celtic! They become the first team to prevent Pep Guardiola's Manchester City from winning, and not only that but they led the visitors on three separate occasions. The hosts may even be a bit disappointed at only coming away with a point considering how the match went, but coming off the back of a 7-0 defeat to Barcelona, that was a very impressive result and performance.

The tone of the match was set after less than three minutes when Celtic took the lead through Moussa Dembele, before Man City levelled things up eight minutes later courtesy of a Fernandinho strike. Raheem Sterling then scored at both ends to take the score to 2-2, first deflecting Tierney's cross into his own net before showing great composure to atone for his miss moments later. The second half began even more quickly than the first as Dembele put Celtic in front for the third time with an acrobatic overhead kick, but ultimately it was Nolito's rebound finish that earned a point for the visitors in a thrilling contest.
