Malaga 2-1 Sevilla

Sebastian Fernandez's goal has earned Malaga a 2-1 win over Sevilla in the Andalucian derby at La Rosaleda.

Santi Cazorla went close for the hosts in the early stages when his free kick was tipped over by Sevilla goalkeeper Javi Varas.

They didn't have to wait long to take the lead as Weligton powered his header into the net from Iraheta's free kick on seven minutes.

Sevilla equalised after 15 minutes when Antonio Luna ghosted in behind the Malaga defence to score his first goal for the club.

However, Malaga were back in front minutes later as Fernandez bundled the ball in from close range.

Xisco saw his shot from the angle saved just after half time, before Malaga goalkeeper Wilfredo Caballero caused confusion in his defence when he flapped at Ivan Rakitic's cross.

As both sides failed to create any decent openings, the hosts were reduced to 10 men on 78 minutes as Xisco was shown a straight red card for his studs-up lunge on Alvaro Negredo.

Jorge Coke had a goal harshly disallowed for offside in the final 10 minutes as Sevilla were unable to grab an equaliser.

Manuel Pellegrini's side have moved up to seventh with the win, while Marcelino Garcia Toral's team slip down to 11th.
