Malaga 1-0 Sporting Gijon

Rondon's second-half strike is enough to see Malaga secure the last Champions League spot in the La Liga table.

Malaga have secured Champions League football next season with a 1-0 win against Sporting Gijon.

The hosts grasped the initiative early on and dictated play from the off, spurning numerous opportunities to take the lead.

The teams went in level at half time but the home fans' nerves were settled shortly after the restart. Rondon met Santiago Cazorla's 49th-minute corner to power home a close-range header.

Malaga kept Juan Pablo Colinas busy in the Sporting goal but they were unable to add to their total and Rondon's goal proved to be enough for the home side to take all three points.
