Ten-man Mainz beat Hannover

Goals from Nicolai Muller and Adam Szalai see 10-man Mainz get the better of Hannover 2-1 at home in the Bundesliga.

Mainz have moved into the top six in the Bundesliga with a 2-1 victory over Hannover at home.

Thomas Tuchel's side went ahead in the 10th minute through Nicolai Muller when he found himself at the end of a rebound to slot home from close range.

Hannover pulled level in the 28th minute when Christian Schulz diverted Lars Stindl's shot over the line despite falling to the ground.

The home side went down to 10 men just minutes into the second half when goalkeeper Christian Wetklo was dismissed for handling the ball outside his penalty area.

However, Hannover failed to take advantage of their numerical superiority and conceded the winner in the 89th minute, as Adam Szalai headed home Eugen Polanski's cross.
