Slovakia maintain 100% record in Group C

Slovakia have made it four wins out of four in Euro 2016 qualifying Group C with a 2-0 victory in Macedonia.

Both sides started the evening slowly, but the hosts fired a warning shot in the opening stages when FK Sarajevo forward Krste Velkoski let fly from a good position and missed the target to the right.

Macedonia threatened again in the 23rd minute as Arijan Ademi met Besart Abdurahimi's corner, but could not keep his bullet header down.

Slovakia took the lead slightly against the run of play in the 25th minute when Vladimir Weiss picked out Juraj Kucka in the box, allowing the Genoa man to tuck a shot into the bottom corner.

The visitors looked more convincing after taking the lead, and they helped themselves to a second seven minutes before the interval when Adam Nemec thumped home from inside the penalty area.

Slovakia came close to killing off their opponents early in the second period as Kucka collected the ball in the danger zone and forced a good save out of Tome Pacovski with his left boot.

Macedonia almost pulled a goal back in the 66th minute when Aleksandar Trajkovski smashed an effort against the bar, but it would have proven no more than consolation had it made the net ripple.

The result leaves Slovakia three points ahead of second-placed Spain in the group table.
