Lyon give Remi Garde winning departure with slender victory over Nice

Lyon have confirmed Europa League qualification for next season and given Remi Garde a victorious sending-off following a 1-0 victory over Nice in Ligue 1 this evening.

The visitors took the lead after only five minutes when Bakary Kone headed home from the centre of the box having latched onto Clement Grenier's cross.

Lyon looked to push themselves further ahead before the break as Bafetimbi Gomis let fly from distance, but his shot was saved at the bottom left corner.

Lorient's Dario Cvitanich might have left a sour taste in the visitors' mouths had he not spurned a great chance by heading straight at the goalkeeper with 10 minutes to play, leaving the final score at 1-0.
