Mohamed Salah fit to play for Egypt against World Cup hosts Russia

Salah fit for Egypt against Russia

Liverpool have confirmed that Mohamed Salah is fit to play for Egypt in their World Cup Group A encounter against tournament hosts Russia.

The 26-year-old was forced off in the first half of his club's Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid last month due to a shoulder injury following a tangle with Sergio Ramos.

Although Salah was included in Egypt's World Cup squad, he did not take part in the Pharaohs' opener against Uruguay, which finished 1-0 to the South Americans.

An update on the official Liverpool site has now claimed that the Egyptian Football Association has declared Salah ready for Tuesday's game in St Petersburg.

"He was fit to play against Uruguay but the coach did not want to take the risk," the EFA is quoted as saying.

Salah has scored 33 goals for his country, with the remainder of the 23-man squad in Russia having only netted that number between them.
