Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson during the summer transfer window.

Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly keen to sign Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson during the summer transfer window.

Despite his long-term affinity to the Merseyside giants, speculation persisted ahead of the new season with Henderson having just two years left on his contract.

The club captain has since penned fresh terms at Anfield, ruling out the possibility of an exit during the next phase of his career.

However, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 31-year-old may have been presented with the opportunity to sign for PSG had Lionel Messi not been available on a free transfer.

Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Romano claims that Henderson had been identified as a potential addition to their midfield.

Romano added that plans to sign a new player for that position were soon shelved once Messi became interested in moving to Parc des Princes.
