Oxlade-Chamberlain 'set for new Liverpool deal'

Liverpool are planning to offer fit-again midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a new contract, according to a report.

The England international made his return to action as a second-half sub in the Reds' 5-0 win against Huddersfield Town on Friday following a year on the sidelines.

Jurgen Klopp expects Oxlade-Chamberlain to make an impact over the remainder of the campaign and, as a reward for the character he has shown over the past year, The Mirror claims that a 12-month contract extension is likely to be offered.

That will take the 25-year-old through until 2023 and is seen as a strong show of faith from the Merseyside outfit, which he joined from Arsenal in a £35m deal in August 2017.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has made 43 appearances for Liverpool either side of his injury layoff.
