Liverpool to target new striker this summer?

Liverpool may reportedly look to bring a new striker to Anfield for the 2021-22 campaign, with Roberto Firmino not firing and Divock Origi expected to leave.

Liverpool could supposedly look to bring a new striker to Anfield for the 2021-22 campaign.

Jurgen Klopp's wingers Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah often grab the headlines with their prolific tallies in the Premier League, but centre-forward Roberto Firmino has been on the receiving end of criticism since arriving at Anfield.

Mane has insisted that Firmino deserves more credit than he is currently being given, but the Brazilian has only notched up six goals in 25 top-flight games this season, including one in his last 11.

With Divock Origi's future also up in the air, the Liverpool Echo speculates that Klopp could set his sights on a new frontman for next season.

However, the report also adds that the Reds may have to prioritise other areas of the pitch amid their injury crisis, so a big-money move for a world-class striker is unlikely to come to fruition.

Origi has historically made an impact from the bench during his time at Anfield, but the 25-year-old has only made nine league appearances this season and is yet to find the back of the net.
