Liverpool 'rival Arsenal for German keeper Bernd Leno'

Liverpool 'rival Arsenal for Bernd Leno'

Liverpool have reportedly joined Premier League rivals Arsenal in the race to sign German goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen.

The Reds are understood to have cooled their interest in Jan Oblak and Alisson, of Atletico Madrid and Roma respectively, due to their high asking prices.

Leno is said to be available for a cut-price fee of £22m, meanwhile, piquing the interest of Arsenal as they look to replace the ageing Petr Cech.

According to German daily Bild, however, Liverpool have now joined the race to sign the 26-year-old and have already made a concrete offer.

Napoli could also make an approach and, in a further twist, Roma may table a bid if Alisson is prised away by Real Madrid.

Leno has been left out of Germany's 23-man squad for this summer's World Cup finals.
