Rickie Lambert turns down move to Aston Villa?

Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert has reportedly turned down a move to Premier League strugglers Aston Villa.

Speculation had been building on deadline day over a proposed deal for the England striker, but PA now suggests that the 32-year-old has rejected the Midlands club.

It is thought that Villa originally tabled a bid in the region of £5m for the former Southampton frontman, who has struggled to find goals since joining the Anfield outfit.

Villa recently brought in midfielder Carles Gil to try to improve their creation of chances.
