John Aldridge: Liverpool need "more battlers" in January

Liverpool need to sign "more battlers" during the January transfer window, according to ex-centre-forward John Aldridge.

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has encouraged manager Jurgen Klopp to sign "more battlers" during the January transfer window.

The Reds are without a win from their last four outings in all competitions, the most recent of which was a 3-0 defeat away at Watford.

Looking ahead to next month's potential business, Aldridge has insisted that Klopp must address the fact that his side have been out-fought of late.

"There is no doubt that the Liverpool squad needs strengthening in January. We need more battlers because we're getting out-fought. It happened against West Brom and it happened again against Watford," he wrote in the Liverpool Echo.

"As the old saying goes, you need to win the individual battles and then the quality shines through. We failed to win those battles at Vicarage Road.

"In terms of positions where we need to buy, you could go right through the spine of the team - centre-half, centre midfield, striker."

Ninth-placed Liverpool take on league leaders Leicester City at Anfield on Boxing Day.
