Kevin Muscat: 'Steven Gerrard will not be joining Melbourne Victory'

Former Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard will not be joining Melbourne Victory, according to the A-League side's manager Kevin Muscat.

Melbourne Victory manager Kevin Muscat has said that there is "no chance" of Steven Gerrard moving to the A-League club.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Gerrard would be leaving Los Angeles Galaxy and the former Liverpool captain was soon linked with a number of clubs around the world.

However, Muscat has insisted that the 36-year-old will not be signing for Victory in the near future.

Muscat told Australian radio station SEN: "We've been contacted in relation to a few players, but any discussions with those players will remain confidential obviously but at this stage there's no chance, no."

It was reported earlier this week that Gerrard was interested in returning to Anfield in a coaching role.
