Alberto Moreno 'never considered Liverpool exit'

Spanish full-back Alberto Moreno insists that he never considered leaving Liverpool during the summer transfer window.

Alberto Moreno has insisted that he never considered leaving Liverpool during the summer transfer window.

The Spaniard struggled for form during the 2016-17 season, and was strongly linked with a move away from Anfield after the Reds brought Andrew Robertson to the club.

Moreno, however, has revealed that the thought of leaving Merseyside never crossed his mind.

"My idea was to stay, to work and to win [back] my place. I saw myself as capable. I spoke to [Jurgen] Klopp, he told me that he could not promise me anything, to work, and that they were going to a sign a number three (left-back)," Moreno told Marca.

"There I thought that something was wrong. I spoke to my people and they told me to work, to start from scratch and then we'll see. And here we are."

Moreno, who has started 13 games in all competitions for Liverpool this season, is currently with the Spain squad preparing for their upcoming international friendlies against Costa Rica and Russia.
