Liverpool win title: Which records could Jurgen Klopp's side still break?

Following Liverpool's long-awaited coronation as Premier League champions, Sports Mole looks at what other records they could still set this season.

Liverpool have won the 2019-20 Premier League title following Manchester City's defeat at the hands of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this evening.

The Reds' 4-0 drubbing of Crystal Palace on Wednesday left Man City knowing that only a victory in West London would prolong their reign as champions until Liverpool visit the Etihad Stadium on July 2.

However, Chelsea's 2-1 victory leaves Man City 23 points adrift of Jurgen Klopp's side with only 21 points left to fight for, giving Liverpool an unassailable lead.

The result caps off a campaign of unprecedented dominance for the Merseysiders as they end a long, 30-year wait to be crowned champions of England for a 19th time, and a first since 1990.

Here, Sports Mole looks at which records Jurgen Klopp's side could still break over the remainder of the 2019-20 campaign.

Most points in a season

Liverpool currently boast 86 points from their opening 31 games, having failed to win just three matches throughout the entire campaign so far.

No team has ever been in such a good position at this stage of a season, and the Reds now need 15 more points from the last 21 on offer to surpass Manchester City's centurions from 2017-18.

Most wins in a season

Pep Guardiola's Man City also boast the record for most wins in a campaign with 32, achieving that feat in both 2017-18 and 2018-19.

Liverpool are currently on 28 wins, meaning that five victories from their last seven games would see them set a new outright record.

Most home wins in a season

Liverpool have an unblemished copybook at Anfield in 2019-20, winning 16 from 16 to put them on course to be the first team to ever boast a 100% home record throughout an entire top-flight campaign.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have all won 18 and drawn one in the past, which Liverpool would beat with victories over Aston Villa, Burnley and Chelsea in their three remaining home outings.

Most home points in a season

By becoming the first team to boast a perfect home record throughout the course of a season, Liverpool would by definition have amassed the most home points in a single season too.

The three clubs mentioned above accrued 55 of a possible 57, but Liverpool could become the first to achieve a clean sweep of 57 home points.

Most away wins in a season

As a sign of their utter dominance this term, Liverpool could also reach the record for most away wins in a campaign if they win the remainder of their games on the road, which includes a visit to Manchester City next up.

Liverpool can only equal Man City's mark of 16 away wins in this category, having dropped points three times on their travels already.

Most away points in a season

The draw with Everton at Goodison Park means that Liverpool can also now only equal Man City's tally of 50 away points in their centurion season of 2017-18.

Klopp's men are currently on 38 points from 15 away games, and have just 12 left to fight for over the remainder of the campaign.

Biggest title-winning margin

Liverpool have already set new standards in terms of the gap between first and second, enjoying an unprecedented 25-point lead over Man City throughout lockdown.

The new champions therefore have some room for error if they are to achieve the biggest-ever winning margin for a Premier League campaign, which is currently held by Man City themselves when they finished 19 points clear in 2017-18.
